Lavallette is a good shore town for families who would like to relax from the excitement of the boardwalk towns, such as Point Pleasant Beach and Seaside Heights. The breakers are further out in the water and causes the water to roll onto the shore. This is perfect for younger children who may be afraid of the rougher waves at some of the other beaches. Older children can catch the waves using a boogie board, raft or surf board, or may even enjoy crabbing or fishing off the piers.
