Fish

  • Fluke
  • Striped Bass
  • Sea Bass
  • Blue Fish
During the day, fishing is free, but before sunrise and after sunset you must have a permit. Permits are available at the Ranger Station.

In Sandy Hook, Parking Area F is reserved for fisherman.

Good angling is available just beyond Parking Area B.

For the northend of Sandy Hook, park at Parking Area K. It's a bit of a walk, about a half mile, to this fishing spot. Remember this for when you have to walk back from across the sand after fishing. Anglers don't need a long cast. A drop off of 20 feet is close to shore.

Fluke are best caught from late spring to the end of summer.
Striped Bass fishing is best during bad weather.
