Kingda Ka - Worlds Tallest Fastest Roller Coaster
Six Flags Great Adventure was founded by Warner LeRoy and celebrated its grand opening on July 4, 1974. It included the 350 acre Wild Safari and 16 rides in what was then known as the Enchanted Forest. The tallest structure in the park at the time was the 156 foot Ferris wheel. The Skyride, which operated at the 1964 New York World's Fair, connected the two ends of the park.
Today several of the original classics at Six Flags Great Adventure remain, such as the Runaway Train and the Ferris wheel, but during the last several years they have acquired some towering neighbors, such as Medusa, Nitro, and Superman Ultimate Flight. In 2005, Six Flags Great Adventure opened the tallest, fastest roller coaster in the world, Kingda Ka which rockets riders straight up at 128 miles per hour to a towering 456 feet (45 stories) . In 2006, they followed Kingda Ka up with a state-of-the-art wooden coaster called El Toro which is the world's second tallest wooden coaster at 176 feet tall.
In addition to the thrill coasters, Six Flags Great Adventure opened two new children's areas – Bugs Bunny National Park and new for this year, Wiggles World. Come see the character parade, have your pictures taken with the Marvel Comics Crime Fighters such as Batman and Robin, Wonder Woman, Flash Gordon and others. Also, on hand are the Wiggles characters and Looney Tunes characters including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig and Tweety Bird.
