Pierro Gallery: Motion/Fixity: performance and installation - South Orange, Essex County

The four artists of Motion/Fixity work in two genres, dance and the visual arts, who share an interest in performance arts, their objects, and in the places where they intersect. Rebecca Davis, Barbara Kilpatrick, Laurel Tentindo and Luis de Robles Tentindo share a belief that the objects in a performance have an existence both before and after their moment on stage. Following the live performances, the drawings, sculptures, photographs, puppets and videos will be presented as visual poems, remaining in the gallery.

Integrating post-bop elements and Brazilian rhythmic concepts into his palette with ease, trumpeter/flugelhornist Claudio Roditi plays with power and lyricism. Roditi traveled for several years as a member of Dizzy Gillespie’s United Nation Orchestra, and more recently, he performs with the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Star Big Band, a Gillespie tribute group. Roditi’s solo work on SYMPHONIC BOSSA NOVA with Ettore Stratta and the Royal Philharmonic earned him a Grammy nomination in 1995.
