The northern Jersey Shore region can be broken up into four areas, the Raritan Bay, the North Shore, the Barnegat Penisula and Long Beach Island. Each beach area has it's own character and you're sure to find one that offers the attractions you enjoy. If you're looking for nature, check out Sandy Hook or Island Beach State Park. For exciting amusement rides and water parks, nothing beats going to Keansburg, Pt Pleasant or Seaside Heights/Seaside Park (collectively referred to as Seaside). For the lighthouse enthusiasts there are several to choose from, including Old Barney (Barnegat Lighthouse) on the northern tip of Long Beach Island and the oldest lighthouse in North America, Sandy Hook.
In addition to all this, you can find quaint Victorian towns such as Spring Lake, or go parasailing in Belmar. If you're the real adventersome type, Sandy Hook lays claim to being home to the only nude beach in New Jersey (don't worry, Sandy Hook has plenty of other beaches where clothing is mandatory). |

| Keansburg - Free Beach (732)787-0215 Summary: Senior citizens from all over New Jersey have fond memories of the days when Keansburg competed with Coney Island as one of the finest amusement centers along the east coast. Today, there is still plenty of fun to be had at the state-of-the-art water park and Keansburg Amusement Park, as well as being able to take relaxing walks along the scenic Raritan Bay. | Manasquan (732)223-1221 Summary: Like Belmar to the north, Manasquan has been a popular destination for the under-30 set for many years. Whether it's the exciting nightlife; the close proximity of the many bungalows, all within several blocks of the beach; or the "Manasquan Bowl" - a combination of wind and tides that creates some of the best surfing on the shore - Manasquan offers plenty for younger beach revelers.
